Fright Fest debuts new, frightfully thrilling entertainment and more family fun including three new walkthroughs: Horror Hollow where guests can experience unforgettable, scary sights and gruesome sounds through a journey into a haunted, forbidden forest; Terror Trail “The Junkyard,” a venture through a dark, scary trail to the unknown swarming with ghosts and goblins; and New Nightmare, where guests’ nightmares come to life as they walk through a deranged psychological thriller.
Music fans can enjoy the new Disco Inferno show featuring Satan and his “devilettes” singing and dancing to classic disco hits from the ‘70s, or Hollywood Ghoulevard where guests can participate in a musical variety show featuring comedic performances from some of Hollywood’s classic stars.
The youngest park guests can head to the Bandstand by the Lake to watch a performance by Frankenstein, Wolfie, The Count and Igor in Monster Mash Bash. These creepy characters sing and dance to Halloween renditions of classic pop songs in a spooktacular musical extravaganza. In Looney Tunes Screamport, master illusionist Brad Ross dazzles kids and parents alike with the new Whimsical, Wacky Wizard magic show.
When the clock strikes 6 p.m., the sun goes down and the ghouls come out. Watch as the park transforms from “thrills by day” to “chills by night” with The A-WAKEning, a dramatic funeral procession and viewing of the walking dead.
Fright Fest’s notorious hayride attraction unveils new scares this season taking guests through a forest filled with terror and surprises around every corner. Plus, guests can witness the illusion of public execution by hanging at The Gallows and watch the beautiful Zambora of the Amazon transform into a ferocious gorilla beast in Zambora.
Faboolous shows and events return by popular demand.
The park’s most popular Fright Fest dance show, Dead Man’s Party, returns at the Big Wheel. Hypnosteria with mentalist/comic hypnotist Denny More returns to the Showcase Theater offering more embarrassing and hilarious acts from the park volunteers. Looney Tunes-We Got the Beat continues at the Bandstand by the Lake, Super Spooky Dolphin Show runs in Fort Independence, and Spirit of the Tiger completes the season in the Temple of the Tiger arena and features a special Super Spooky Tiger Show in the evenings at 7 p.m.
Themed areas provide more walk-through thrills such as fog-filled cemeteries and zombies lurking throughout the park’s midways. Boardwalk transitions from a lively corridor filled with games of chance, to a demented circus filled with side show freaks called Circus Psycho, and guests can walk through the Carnival of Clowns 3-D Funhouse haunted maze into a twisted dimension of crazy clowns and hallucinating images.
Plus, little boys and ghouls can enjoy Looney Tunes Screamport, free of creepy creatures but full of Halloween-themed fun.
The nautical Seaport area offers a trick-or-treat trail featuring Bugs Bunny and his Looney Tunes friends plus rides and Halloween-themed shows and activities for children including the Mad Science show. Children 54 inches and under can participate in a Costume Parade at 3 p.m. that winds from Fort Independence to Looney Tunes Screamport.
After 6 p.m. when the sun goes down and ghouls come out, kids 12 years of age and under can ward off these pesky creatures with “ghoul repellent,” a festive whistle that stops beasts in their tracks. (The park recommends that families with very young children exit the park by 6 p.m.)
Spooktacular special events
Six Flags hosts the third American Red Cross blood drive Oct. 8. Guests can donate a pint of blood to earn a free Fright Fest ticket. “One pint of blood can help save up to three lives and it only takes one hour of your time,” said Maureen Buehl of the American Red Cross’ Jersey Coast Chapter. Registrations must be made by calling 732/928-2000, ext. 2835. Up to 200 donors are needed, and will be taken on a first call, first serve basis.
